Dakota Blend and Vermont Blend are used for the flooring in this installation. The columns are also of the Vermont Blend. The bench is made from a special selection of Montclair Mariposa marble.
The Vermont Danby Marble® was used in many buildings and monuments that have come to symbolize American Civilization, such as the New York Public Library, The United Nations Building, Arlington National Amphitheater, the Supreme Court and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
The quarry was originally operated by Vermont Marble Company starting in the mid 1850’s, a company which employed more than 4,000 men; had offices, quarries, and shops throughout the U.S. and distributed 1 million cubic feet of marble around the globe annually. The Danby quarry is one, if not the only, marble quarry from this historical time period that is still active and growing
In 1993 RED Graniti and F.lli Mazzucchelli Marmi (both of Carrara Italy) joined forces and opened Vermont Quarries Corp. Through the years the company has operated the famous Danby Marble Quarry in Danby, VT. The quarry is known not only for its beautiful marble, but for being the largest underground marble quarry and factory. The Danby Quarry stretches almost 1 1/2 miles into Dorset Mountain.
As of 2025 RED Graniti has obtained full ownership of Vermont Quarries Corp. which continues the tradition of quarrying and producing Vermont Danby Marble.
