Golden Sun is technically a Gneiss but is broadly referred to as a granite.
Granite, an igneous rock formed from cooling magma under the earth’s surface while Gneiss, a metamorphic rock formed when pre-existing rocks such as granite, shale and shist are compressed together under high pressure In any case this material is treasured by ABC for its aesthetic value and its geologic make up that is suitable for exterior paving applications even in the most difficult frost-thaw environments. Our very capable factory can do a multitude of finishes that include more typical honed, polished, flamed, sandblasted, brushed, bush hammered and tooled finishes that include linear chisel, split, pineapple and other hand manipulated finishes.
This granite has a mild absorption rate and has some “free iron” deposits. Range must be expected along with an oxidation process that overtime “toasts” the surface with light amber/gold hues.
