What stones do you think are trending right now?
I’m an outdoors man. From my personal life to my work, I’m happiest outside so for the purpose of this conversation, I’ll comment on exterior stones. I see people moving toward warm earth tones and away from the grey which has been so popular for the last 10 years. I also see clients asking for more inclusions, fossils, and textures than ever before. It’s nice to see nature being welcomed back into natural stone.
What materials are you really loving right now?
My passion and expertise with stone is hardscapes which comes from my landscaping roots. All the Renaissance limestones from the Frankenshotter quarries in Germany are amazing. I love specifying Renaissance stones for projects because the durability and versatility is unparalleled.
If you were a stone, what would you be and why?
If I were a stone I would be Barnes Limestone, because it is versatile like myself. This material can be used just about anywhere. It is timeless and has tons of character.
