By connecting the worlds of art and design, Saracino has successfully created products which are a fusion of form and function. Each unique piece in the collection will be limited to a production of 12 individually stamped and numbered units.
All designs in the APS collection will explore the relationship between the natural and the man-made world. By employing new technologies, sustainable principals, and creative thinking, Saracino pursues innovative design on every scale.
The inaugural piece from the collection, Mineral Table, is made of the world’s purest Blue de Savioe marble and is being featured as part of designLAb, Pacific Design Center’s cutting edge art and design exhibition, now on view through August 2016. The remaining pieces in the collection will be introduced throughout 2016 as part of ABC’s functional art focused White Box Studio coming in January.
ABC and Saracino have collaborated previously on Saracino’s large scale figurative sculpture, HERO, inspired by Michelangelo’s David. HERO is a gift from Italy to the United States, donated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 13-foot high statue fabricated in Vermont Danby Marble is positioned in the public plaza at Three Bryant Park and will remain on view indefinitely, creating a new landmark in the center of Manhattan.
Saracino has exhibited in galleries and museums internationally and has designed buildings, monuments and products in a variety of industries. Saracino’s work is in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Museum of Art and Design, New York and the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
